I, Okezie Ikpeazu Am A Bishop In The PDP With A Big Cathedral, I Have No Reason To Leave The PDP For The APC.

The governor of Abia State, Okezie Ikpeazu, has debunked reports making the rounds that he may be considering leaving the People’s Democratic Party, PDP for the All Progressives Congress, APC which was the news that broke as an aftermath of an invitation he extended to Senate President, Ahmad Lawan.

The Governor made the clarification through a statement his office issued, where he reiterated that he would remain in the Peoples Democratic Party PDP, to continue to provide the dividends of democracy to every citizen of the Abia state regardless of wherever he finds himself in the future.

During the commissioning of the Eyimba Automated Shoe Company, located at Obikabia in Obingwa Local Government Area, the Senate President, Ahmed Lawan had while eulogizing the governor’s efforts at improving Abis State, asked him to join the progressives.

In the words of the Senate President, “You are a shining example of a Nigerian that is pan-Nigerian that believes in coming together with everyone to ensure that the lives of the people they govern are improved and I want to commend you for that.

Continuing, he said, “Your Excellency, before you go to the Senate, it doesn’t matter how we are able to work to get ourselves into a progressive forum. You are already a progressive at heart. You are a progressive in action. Your Excellency, the progressive forum is waiting”.

The Governor, Okezie  Ikpeazu was quick to dispel the notion and said,  “I don’t have any plans of joining the APC. I have tremendous respect for the Senate President whom I consider to be a solid democrat and a decent gentleman, whose visit to Abia State is very special to us and I must state that his appeal to me to join the progressives is expected from a politician of his standing”.

“The truth is that I am a Bishop in the PDP with a large Cathedral and followership. As a matter of fact, I want to see how I can convince the Senate President to join me in the PDP, instead of me joining him in the APC”, the Governor concluded.
