Imo Speaker, Paul Emeziem Says Neither He, Nor The Entire House Membership Were Induced Or Given Money To Remove His Deputy, Amara Iwuanyanwu.

Hon. Paul Emeziem.

The Speaker of the Imo State House of Assembly, Hon. Paul Emeziem, has dispelled rummours that the entire members of the house of assembly were either bribed or induced by certain elements in the state to carry out thw impeachment of his deputy, Hon. Amara Iwuanyanwu yesterday.

According to a statement by the Speakers Chief Press Secretary, Collins Osuji, the attention of the Speaker was drawn to the fictitious, malicious and baseless reports trending on the social media platforms regarding the removal of the Deputy Speaker, Rt. Hon. Amara Chyna Iwuanyanwu.

According to the statement, Amara Iwuanyanwu was on the floor of the House yesterday (Tuesday, 2nd November, 2021) when he was removed from his position following the resolutions reached and signed by eighteen out of the 27 members of the House.

The Speaker, as the chief servant of the House, and as required by ethics and laws guiding the state Assembly, only made the pronouncement after acknowledging that the resolution received endorsement of the far majority of the House members, but against the 'factuality' of what transpired, the mischief makers, sponsored by known elements, have taken to social media platforms to ditch out lies aimed at maligning the personality and integrity of the Speaker and the other members of the House.

In the first instance, the report that the Speaker induced the members with N10 million each to facilitate the Iwuanyanwu's removal was not only laughable, misleading but childish.

Also, that the Speaker and members were bought over by some undisclosed politicians in the state to carry out the decision and by extension, destabilize the state government led by His Excellency, Dist. Sen. Hope Uzodinma was nowhere near the truth and should totally be disregarded.

Imolites already know who is who and can testify that the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Paul Emeziem, being a transparent, diligent and credible personality, can never indulge in any form of blackmail, backbiting or campaign of calumny against even his enemies. We therefore wish to state categorically that even though the removal of Hon. Iwuanyanwu had received widespread jubilation from well-meaning Imolites and beyond, it was never a personal decision of the Speaker.

To the best of our knowledge, the Speaker was bounded by the law to respect the decision of the majority of the House which he presides over, and even as we acknowledge the pains and humiliation the decision may have caused the affected person, going to the media to misinform the general public in attempt to dent the good image of the Speaker was uncalled for, uncivilized and shameful.

We want to use this medium to appeal to Imolites and the general public to treat the trending misleading and lies-infested reports with levity as they can only come from a power-drunk or drowning person or persons.

The Speaker, would therefore want use this opportunity to once again reiterate his unalloyed loyalty and support for the governor and leader of his party in the state, His Excellency, Sen. Hope Uzodinma even as he promised to remain resolute in his determination to offer effective representation and leadership services to his constituents and the entire good people of Imo.

For the Speaker, today, tomorrow or forever, he will never betray the trust cum confidence bestowed on him by the governor, his colleagues, APC faithful and Imo people in general.

Finally, the Speaker has enjoined his enemies; those who want his down fall or are behind the cheap lies told against him through available means, to go home, repent and sin no more..
