A former Speaker of the Kano State House of Assembly and chairman, House Committee on Pension, Kabiru Rurum, has dumped the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, as reports say that Mr. Rurum, who was a gubernatorial aspirant on the platform of the APC, had informed journalists in Kano on Sunday that he is not happy with the way politics is being played in the party in the state.
According
to him, internal democracy had collapsed in the party as some people are
hellbent on selecting candidates without following democratic processes to take
place.
He
said he had done all he could to ensure level playing field is allowed in the
course of party politicking but the powers that be prevented that.
According
to Mr. Rurum, “It is unfair at this dispensation to deny Kano South the chance
to produce the next Governor, as they have not got the chance since 1992.”
He said he is considering joining forces with Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso’s New Nigeria People’s Party, NNPP to ensure that Kano South Senatorial District are carried along in the politics of the state, as there are indications that he would recontest the position he is currently occupying as member of the House of Representatives.
