Chief Solomon Ogbonna. |
The General Assembly of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Lagos, has impeached the President Chief Solomon Ogbonna, as was the outcome of the general assembly meeting held today at Calabar hall, Surulere Lagos.
The
motion for his impeachment was moved by Mr. Peter Agah, the Chairman of
Ohanaeze, Ajeromi Local Government, seconded by Eze Pat Ene of Ojo and Eze
Okpotemba of Ikeja, with the crowd immediately chorused a deafening Supported!
Supported! Supported!
The
Chairman of Ohanaeze, Ajeromi Local Government cited the court judgment
procured by Chief Solomon Ogbonna to extend his tenure by another four years
against the bye-law which states that a president can only go for a term of
four years, calling on the parent body of Ohanaeze worldwide Enugu, to
immediately set up a caretaker Committee to handle the affairs of Lagos Ohanaeze
Ndigbo.
The
copy of the court judgment states that all the State Executive members have
been sacked, leaving the President as the only standing Executive member who
was empowered to organize election for other executives to serve for another
four years.
Mr.
James Uwadoka from Ayobo Ipaja expressed consternation at the behavior of the
impeached President, Solomon Ogbonna, who had the opportunity to exit office honourably but
chose to play god by insulting everyone including custodians of our culture
{Ndi-eze} for his tenure extension project, even as Chief Umedi Joseph from
Apapa Iganmu wondered why the impeachment motion was delayed till this time.
The
motion for his impeachment was immediately followed by the exit from the venue
of all the Ezes and the multitude of Ndigbo who attended the General Assembly
numbering about Five hundred, and we discovered that the administration of Chief
Solomon Ogbonna as President created so many
problems, including the planting of his associates in the just concluded
local government election, thereby causing the many crises trailing the
elections which allowed strangers to take over the affairs of Ohanaeze in Local
Governments.
The
new caretaker committee is expected among other things to nullify the recent
crises ridden local government elections.
With
this new development, Chief Solomon Ogbonna’s procured court judgment sacked
the executives of the Ohaneze Ndigbo in Lagos, while the general Assembly of
the Ohaneze Ndigbo, which is the body with the statutory powers, impeached the
President.. making the Ohanaeze Ndigbo Lagos State without a valid Executives
at the moment.
Chief Solomon Ogbonna was sworn in as the President of Ohanaeze Lagos on the 16th of June 2018 and is supposed to vacate office next week Thursday, the 16th of June 2022, but unfortunately, he ended it with being impeached as President out of his greed and selfish desire to stay for 12 or more years.
