The former Governor of Akwa-Ibom State, and the immediate past Minister of the Niger-Delta Affairs, Godswill Akpabio, has asked Nigerians and delegates to the APC Convention to disregard the fake news spreading around that he had stepped down from his ambition to be the Presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC.
The former Governor through his campaign office, The Godswill Akpabio Campaign Organization, GACO, said that the attention of the office has been drawn to news items online, purporting that our presidential aspirant, Godswill Akpabio has stepped down for a particular aspirant.
The statement signed by one Chief Sylvester Okonkwo, who is the Director of Media and Publicity of GACO, said that ordinarily, the campaign office would have allowed this to slide, because it is viewed as a wishful thinking by mischief makers, hired by some politicians to misinform and misdirect the resolve of the teaming supporters of our aspirant from casting their votes for him at the party’s Special Convention for Presidential Primaries, which is why this response is coming.
We hereby state unequivocally that Senator Godswill Akpabio is firmly in the race, he has not stepped down for any of the aspirant, neither has he withdrawn from the presidential race.

Okonkwo says that he is using this medium to tell his teaming supporters and delegates
to the APC National Convention, that Godswill Akpabio is still in the APC
nomination race and has not stepped down for anyone or for any reason
whatsoever.
