Members
of the judging committee were extremely impressed by the quality of her work,
selecting it as one of only 23 winners from a field of 900 entries submitted
from 65 countries, as Covering Climate Now salutes Ugochi and all the other
cutting edge journalists and newsrooms that are reporting the climate crisis.

Oluigbo won in the long audio podcast category, haven created, produced and
presented over 100 episodes of Green Angle on TVC.

According the organizers, these 23 winners were selected from over 900 entries submitted from 65 countries! Juries composed of distinguished journalists representing 58 newsrooms around the world chose 68 finalists before naming the ultimate winners.
Reacting to the honour
done her, the award recipient says, “By this award, I hope that the voices of
the most vulnerable in Africa and other gravely impacted communities get better
amplified so businesses, global leaders and influential individuals understand
the urgency of the climate and environmental crises. The award isn't for me.
It's for the people who have let me into their lives and their spaces to tell
their stories.
