The event which held at the prestigious Concorde Hotel, Owerri, was ongoing till the Governor of the State, Senator Hope Uzudinma mounted the Rostrum to make his remarks and then, the power source of the hotel, went off, cutting short his speech.
According
to a report done by DCI, the power source were some dilapidated generator sets
which couldn’t wait to show the governor that they needed to be changed or, atleast, the entire system
revamped as officials of the state government are being accused of using the
hotel like it was their personal properties and homes.

DCI
wrote “See the Hired Generators powering the Concorde Hotels Owerri, where the
80th birthday of Chief Iwuanyanwu is going on.The generator went off as the
Governor mounted the stage to give his speech with the event beaming live on Channels
Television, AIT, NTA and others”.

Since
2021, the State Owned Concorde Hotel has been close to ‘moribund’ as state
government appointees now live in different rooms and suites without remitting
money to the hotel.
