The Reasons Behind The Suicide Death Of The Co-Founder Of Bukka Hut, Laolu Martins.

The news of the death of Laolu Martins, the Co-Founder of the one of the fast rising eateries, Bukka Hut, came to a lot of Nigerians as a rude shock, especially with the news that he committed suicide early this morning.

Information has revealed that despite being the co-founder of the frequently visited eating center, Bukka Hut, Laolu is seen as the company’s face, particularly given the size of his fan-base in the corporate sector from which he originally came.

Informed sources claim that Laolu had battled depression unsuccessfully before committing suicide. The family source, who wished to remain unnamed, told another platform that the financial guru’s suicide was caused by a failed business transaction, which led him to committing suicide as a result of staggering $11 million in stock market losses.

He was alleged to have taken his own life in the wee hours of Wednesday, around 3am in his Lekki home after giving up on his allegedly protracted struggle with depression. 

Laolu Martins started his career with PricewaterhouseCoopers in 1999 and later joined Investment Banking & Trust Company Plc now Stanbic IBTC Bank Plc where he served in the Financial Control and Trade Finance/Foreign Operations units of the Bank before being seconded to Stanbic IBTC Asset Management Ltd where at various times he was Financial Controller, Head Asset Management and lastly Head Stock broking.

In 2005, he resigned to join Shell Nig. CPFA Ltd, the Fund Manager of the Shell Companies in Nigeria Pensions Scheme where he was Head, Investments up till 2008 when he resigned to join Nigeria International Security Limited, NISL, an independent financial services firm specializing in investments within the Nigerian space.

Depression is Real.
