To support women who are petty traders and struggling to survive in their small businesses and to provide for their families, the Ugwumba Center for Leadership Development in Africa has developed a microfinancing initiative called the “U-Fund for Women.”
The
pre-launch of this initiative took place in Abuja on Wednesday, the 8th
of September, which was earlier scheduled for official unveiling at the grand
finale of the 5th edition of the Ugwumba Enterprise Challenge in Abuja on the
13th of December, 2022 following an urgent need to intervene and support a
family that is in need.
Over the weekend in Owerri, Imo State, the President of Ugwumba Leadership Centre, Uche Nwosu hosted the family of the late Gospel artiste, Evangelist Chinedu Nwadike, to inquire about their welfare and it was during the meeting that he discovered that their situation needed urgent attention.
Therefore, an
emergency meeting to that effect was summoned and funds were thereafter
approved to enable late Chinedu Nwake’s wife set up a catering business and
begin to take care of her children.
