The Resource Centre for Human Rights & Civic Education (CHRICED) and the BAOBAD for Women Human Rights has felicitated with the management and board of the Community Life Project, CLP on her 30th anniversary.
According to a statement by the Board of Directors and
Secretariat of CHRICED, we heartily congratulate and felicitate with frontline
civil society organization, Community Life Project (CLP), on its 30th
anniversary. As a grassroots organization that has been working for three
decades to redress inequalities experienced by citizens in rural areas, CLP has
done exceptionally well in promoting inclusiveness in several spheres of
democratic governance. Despite a slew of challenges, including shrinking civic
space, which has hampered the work of civic organizations in Nigeria, CLP, led
by Dr. Ngozi Iwere, has remained focused, determined, and resilient in the face
of all odds.
On her part, the BAOBAB for Human Rights says she felicitates
with the Community Life Project, CLP, on attaining 30 years of dedicated
service to the Nigerian society, especially women at the community level.
CLP, according to BAOBAB, has been challenging inequality and
advancing social justice by empowering marginalized grassroots communities since
its inception and in the last 30 years, the organization has enabled social
inclusion, participatory grassroots development and empowerment of grassroots
communities to express voice.
Both CHRICED and BAOBAB for Human Rights believes that the
situation would have been worse if civic actors like CLP had not mobilized and
organized marginalized communities to have their voices heard in key governance
processes, which indeed, is the reward for three decades of exceptional work by
a consistent and conscientious grassroots advocacy group like CLP is more work
for the good of Nigerian citizens, with CLP contributing significantly to conversation
around participatory budgeting and in improving elections, with civil rights
and responsibility of citizens.
CHRICED Board led by Comrade Dr. Ibrahim M. Zikirullahi says that CLP had mobilized and organized marginalized communities to have their voices heard in key governance processes, indeed, the reward for three decades of exceptional work by a consistent and conscientious grassroots advocacy group like CLP is more work for the good of Nigerian citizens, while BAOBAB For Women’s Human Rights, led Bunmi Dipo-Salami, said that CLP has contributed immensely to citizens responsibility and had attracted infrastructure and services worth several millions of naira to underserved communities in her three decades of service.
CHRICED and BAOBAB For Women’s Human Rights wish CLP a happy 30th anniversary and best wishes for your patriotic endeavours ahead!
