A member of the House of Representatives, representing Isiala Ngwa North/South, Darlington Nwokocha has won the Abia Central Senatorial election for Labour Party.

Nwokocha defeated his closest rival, Paul Akobundu of the Peoples Democratic
Party, PDP to clinch the Senate seat.
Hon. Darlington Nwokocha was before now, a member of the People's Democratic Party, PDP and was Chairman at Insurance and Acturial Matters Committee in the House of Representatives until May 2023 when he would be sworn into the Senate Chambers.
