The governorship candidate of Action Alliance, AA, in the March 18 Governorship and House of Assembly Elections, in Rivers State, Dr. Dawari Ibietela George, has set-up a 25-member Committee to chart the way forward for The Bridge Team and to strengthen the party at all levels. The Committee, which was set up at an expanded stakeholders meeting held at the Bridge Campaign Organization Office in Port Harcourt, was charged with reviewing the Team's performance in the last election and making recommendations on the next line of action after reviewing the situation room reports and documentary evidence from the field operations unit of the campaign organization.
Dr.
George, who addressed the leaders in the post-election review meeting, also
said that the electoral process left much to be desired. He condemned the
violence, intimidation of voters and widespread irregularities that
characterized the elections. "we do not agree with what the Independent
National Electoral Commission, INEC, declared to be the final result", he
stated.
Dr.
George suggested that it was time to begin the rebuilding of AA in Rivers State
to an enviable platform to offer Rivers people a viable alternative to
actualize their dream of a peaceful and prosperous state. "To every
AA member and supporter, let me assure you that our future is bright and rather
than being broken by the outcome of the elections, we should be more determined
to give our all to restore our state to the path of dignity and planned
development”, Dr. George added that Rivers State needed a new “Political,
economic and social recalibration” to restore it to the original dream of its
founding fathers.
The
AA governorship candidate thanked God for securing the lives of his supporters and
expressed his sympathy with some members and candidates of the party who
sustained injuries and damage to their property from physical attacks by thugs
and promised to attend to the situation.
The
AA State Party Chairman, Mr. Sunday Gabriel Baju, in his remarks at the
meeting, congratulated the candidates of the party for their exemplary conduct
before and during the elections, as well as members of the party for their
loyalty and commitment throughout the electioneering process.
