The 11th of March 2023, would see these two Nollywood actors, Desmond Eliot, member, Lagos State House of Assembly. representing Surulere constituency 1 and Olumide Abiodun Oworu, slug it out at the polling booth for who would represent the people of Surulere 1.

Olumide's desire to go to the House of Assembly came to light a few days before the Presidential election which held on the 25th, as some of us did not know he was also going to be on the ballot, just like the guy who defeated both Banky W and Babajide Obanikoro in Eti-Osa and the people will decide who their representative would be.

There feelers around that the camp of Desmond Eliot are already jittery, going by the outing of last Saturday, when the people came out enmass for Labour Party in Lagos State, and are now determined to win this election by engaging more and talking to the people more, a thing they are not used to, especially when they have the backing of Asiwaju.

Furthermore, with the winning of the Presidential Election, whichever way, by Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and now more relaxed as it well, the battle for the soul of Lagos would be the utmost in his mind and in the minds of those who are his chosen candidates.

The usage of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC's new technology called the  Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) and its workability in the Governorship and state assembly election, would be another issue to be looked into. If BVAS, a technology INEC promised Nigerians would be the measuring factor for the presidential election couldn't work for the purpose it was meant for, how will the same INEC allow it work for the elections in the states.

Imagine a situation where the Governorship and state assembly elections are allowed to be free and fair, then the battle between Olumide Oworu and Desmond Eliot would have been an easy win for Olumide with the grace Labour Party is enjoying around the country.

So, we wait to see what INEC is going to do to save her face and redeem her image in the eye of the people. Let there be a free run between Desmond Eliot and Olumide Oworu.
