According to reports, the National Youth Service Corps, NYSC has denied giving Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, the Governor-elect of Enugu State, a Certificate of National Service.
Mbah
of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP was accused by several opposition
political parties of presenting a falsified NYSC certificate to the Independent
National Electoral Commission in the run-up to the March 18, 2023 governorship
election (INEC).
The
Enugu State PDP Campaign Council, however, disputed the alleged falsification
of the NYSC certificate, calling it a rumor of a lame opposition and the final
gasp of a dying horse.
The
campaign council in a statement by its Director of Public Communications and
spokesperson, Nana Ogbodo, said the opposition in the state had
realised that they had no prospects in the governorship election and therefore,
resorted to smear campaigns.
The
council insisted that there was no truth whatsoever in the allegation, but in contradiction
to the PDP Enugu state, the NYSC denied granting Mbah’s certificate in response
to a request for the document’s confirmation made by a Mary Nneoma Elijah.
This
was stated by the NYSC in a letter of response to a request for information on Peter Ndubuisi Mbah’s
status with the NYSC and confirmation of a certificate that was enclosed.
Ibrahim A. Muhammad, the director
of corps certification, has signed this application in accordance with Section
1 of the Freedom of Information Act of 2011 (FOIA).

Number: A808297, was not given by the Scheme, according to a letter from NYSC
dated February 1, 2023.
“I am directed to
refer to your letter dated 23 November, 2022 on the above subject and to convey
Management’s delight for compliance with the provision of NYSC Act regarding
presentation of the Certificate of National Service or Exemption Certificate by
employees/prospective employees holding Degree and HND Certificates.
“We are pleased to
inform you that the Certificate of National Service belonging to Mbah Peter
Ndubuisi with Certificate Number: A808297 forwarded for verification was not
issued by the NYSC.
“As we look forward to
close working ties with your organisation, please accept the assurances of the
Director-General’s warmest regard.
