A member of the Arewa Consultative Forum, ACF, Musa Saidu has warned against picking former Governor of Akwa-Ibom State, Godswill Akpabio as the next Senate President of Nigeria.
According to the leader of the ACF in the Southern, Akpabio’s
emergence as Senate President would spell doom for Nigeria, noting that no true
Northerner would endorse Akpabio for the Senate Presidency.
Saidu also condemned the endorsement of Akpabio’s by
a Northern coalition.
In a statement, Saidu was quoted as saying, “We
hereby dissociate ourselves from the endorsement of Akpabio for the Senate
Presidency by a coalition of Northern groups.
“No true Northern group will want to endorse Akpabio
for a sensitive position like that of Senate President because he is not
friendly with the North.
“We are the people who know Akpabio because we are
resident in the South; we know those who are friendly with the Northern people,
and Akpabio is actually not one of them.”
