News reaching “Precious Eze’s Blog” has it that the Abia State House of Assembly Speaker, Rt. Hon. Chinedum Orji, has been impeached.
Chinedum, son of immediate past Abia Governor, Senator
TA Orji, was impeached on Tuesday at about 9am by 18 members of the Assembly who
signed for the impeachment with the exception of two persons.
Reports say Hon. Solomon Akpulonu moved the motion for
the impeachment and was seconded by Hon. Chijioke Chukwu (Bende North).
Details of his impeachment are still sketchy as at the
time of filling this report but may however not be unconnected with the alleged
unwillingness of the Speaker to commence impeachment proceedings against the
State Governor, Dr. Okezie Victor Ikpeazu.
Deputy Speaker of the Assembly, Ifeanyi Uchendu
representing Ohafia South confirmed the impeachment to Journalists in Umuahia,
the state capital on Tuesday but did not disclose other information.
Rt. Hon. Orji, son of the former Governor Theodore A.
Orji had lost his bid to represent Ikwuano/Umuahia federal constituency in the
House of Representatives in the just concluded general elections to the Labour
Party’s candidate who contested against him.
