VACANCY: PDP Training Institute Shops For DG.

The Peoples Democratic Institute Establishment Committee, on Thursday, submitted its report to the party’s National Working Committee in Abuja.

The committee, chaired by the PDP National Vice Chairman, South, Taofeek Arapaja, recommended three names for appointment as Director General of the PDI.

Arapaja explained that the PDI is the organ of the PDP concerned with “training, capacity building, research and development of democracy, and leadership in good governance.”

He said, “The PDI was established in the year 2000 by the founding fathers of our great party. The mission of the institute is to serve as a centre of excellence. It is also expected to serve as a think tank for the PDP and to promote democracy in Nigeria, Africa, and beyond.”

The former deputy governor of Oyo State, who said his committee was given a free hand to operate, said those shortlisted for appointment as PDI FG have the qualities required to restore the lost glory of the PDP

Arapaja said, “The committee is charged with the onerous task of interviewing all the candidates that applied for the position of the Director-General of the institute and recommend three best candidates, one of whom is expected to be appointed by the National Working Committee of our party.

“As a first step towards the revival of the institute, a befitting office building was rented, renovated, furnished, and equipped for PDI to effectively re-engage the purpose for which it was established. This was made possible through the assistance granted to the Party by H.E. Engr. Seyi Makinde, the Executive Governor of Oyo State.”
