Sharon Shante, a former student of Holy Rosary Girls Secondary School, Port Harcourt, Rivers State has eulogized her former principal, now proprietor of Archdeacon Brown Education Centre, Port Harcourt as the world celebrate world teachers’ day.
According to her, as the world celebrate Teachers' Day,
and while I cannot recall any specific teacher who greatly influenced me, I do
remember my secondary school principal, Dr. (Dame) Christie Toby who was the
principal of Holy Rosary Girls Secondary School in Port Harcourt, and had a
significant impact on me as a child.
Sharon Shante continues by saying that “I always admired
her (Dame Christie Toby) when she addressed us at the assembly ground and though
I haven't seen her since I left secondary school, I hold her in high esteem and
mention her name in conversations about myself.
Dr. Christie Toby is the wife of the Deputy Governor
emeritus of Rivers State, Sir Gabriel Toby for eight years and her impact as second
lady of the state was felt, which is why her schools, Archdeacon Brown
Education Centre is one of the best place to get education not only in
Niger-Delta, but in Nigeria as a whole.
