The Appeal Court that sat in Abuja has sacked the Governor of Kano State, Abba Kabir Yusuf of the NNPP and has declares APC winner of that election.
The Court ruled that Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf was not a
member of the NNPP as at the time the elections were conducted and is therefore
not qualified to contest for the seat, says the tribunal was wrong not to have
disqualified him in the first instance,
The court in its ruling declared the candidate of the APC, Nasiru
Gawuna, winner of the Kano state governorship election.
Days ahead will open up discussions on this matter as the March 18, 2023
election saw Abba Kabir Yusuf declared the winner by the Independent National
Electronic Electoral Commission (INEC) with 1,019,602 votes, surpassing Nasiru
Gawuna’s 890,705 votes, however, the All Progressives Congress, APC had taken
the matter to the Tribunal, alleging electoral malpractice.
