You would remember oen of the women who opened the space for other women in the music industry today, known as Salawa Abeni and how her songs reigned in the 80ies and 90ies, but here in 2023, she is celebrating love and togetherness.
It was the birthday celebration of her husband, the
third husband she would be marrying, in the person of Controller Rasheed
Adahunse, the immediate past commandant of the Customs Training College who
just retired from active service, haven attained the compulsory retirement age.
The veteran artist took to her Instagram page to
eulogize third husband whom she said she didn’t choose wrongly in Lagos
over the weekend.
Speaking at the event, Salawa Abeni said: “I don’t have many
words to utter other than to thank God. I will just say a bit about my dearest
husband. “You have retired but not tired,
as God joined us together as husband and wife four years ago, I pray you will
live long and have abundance.
“You
saw me as a musician and I saw you then as a complete ‘English’ man, but love
conquered all. I have not chosen wrongly.”
