GLOBAL PARTNERSHIP FOR LOCAL CONTENT: The Emergence Of The Ikot Ebo Elders Council.

In a momentous step towards propelling Ikot Ebo Ikono, Uyo LGA, into a new era of growth and development, Village Head Eteidung Samuel Moses Udo has announced the formation of the Ikot Ebo Elders Council.

This groundbreaking initiative aims to tap into esteemed community members' collective wisdom and expertise, including Chief Clement Ekott as Chairman, Ntiense Ubon Israel (Inyang), Prince Engr. Ubong Aaron, Evang Ita Enang, Engr. Usen Inyang, Obong Tony Akpan, Engr. Eno Akpabio, Obong Samuel Moses Udo (Village Head), Mr. Uduak Inwang as the Secretary, Dr. Mrs. Grace E. Umoh, Pastor Uduak Monday, and Deaconess Mabel Nse Udo. These newly appointed members represent diverse talents and backgrounds, each poised to contribute their unique insights and skills to the collective endeavor.

The inauguration ceremony, held at the village hall in Ikot Ebo Ikono, Uyo LGA, on Thursday, March 27, 2024, and presided over by the village head, Eteidung Samuel Moses Udo, marks a significant milestone in the community's journey toward progress and prosperity. In his acceptance speech, the Chairman, Chief Clement Ekott, expressed heartfelt gratitude to the village council and emphasized the council's unwavering commitment to realizing the collective vision of Ikot Ebo village. He recognized the importance of unity and cooperation and stressed their role as the cornerstones of community success.

One of the council's primary mandates is to explore opportunities for international collaboration and attract developmental benefits to Ikot Ebo Village. With a strategic focus on partnership with the government, relevant donor agencies, and the international community, the council aims to chart a comprehensive roadmap for sustainable development. This includes delineating a clear timeline and deliverables for potential projects that will directly benefit the community.

The birth of the Ikot Ebo Elders Council signifies a new era of hope and promise for one of the most neglected communities in the Uyo Local government area of Akwa Ibom State. As the council embarks on its mission to bring about positive change, the entire community stands united in anticipation of a brighter future filled with opportunity, prosperity, and pride in their shared heritage.
