Presidency Condemns Discrimination Incident At KFC Against Gbenga Daniel’s Son, Debola.

The Office of the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Special Needs and Equal Opportunities has expressed deep concern and condemnation regarding the discriminatory incident that transpired on March 27, 2024, at a Kentucky Fried Chicken, KFC restaurant in the departure hall of Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos State.

Senator Gbenga Daniel’s son, Debola Daniel who as a person with disability and is reliant on a wheelchair, was unjustly denied access to the lounge area of the aforementioned KFC establishment.

Such discriminatory conduct is utterly unacceptable and violates the fundamental rights and dignity of individuals with disabilities in Nigeria.

The Office of the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Special Needs and Equal Opportunities is committed to upholding the rights of all citizens, including those with disabilities, and will not tolerate discrimination or marginalization, therefore the need to stand in solidarity with Demola Daniel and all individuals who face similar prejudice and injustice in our dear country, pledging to vigorously pursue this matter until the narrative is changed, and redress is found.

Additionally, we demand a public apology from KFC to be published in national dailies, for their perverse discrimination and misconduct, failure of which will result in legal action, as we will not hesitate to seek justice through the appropriate channels.

Discrimination against persons with disabilities has no place in our society, and we call upon all stakeholders to join us in ensuring equal access and opportunities for all. Let us work together to create a more inclusive and equitable Nigeria.

You would recall that the son of former Governor of Ogun State and Senate Committee Chairman on Army, Gbenga Daniel, Debola who is on wheelchair was denied access to the use of the lounge of popular eatery in Abuja, Kentucky Fried Chicken, KFC for short on his way out of the country with his wife and siblings last week.
