In a groundbreaking move, the Office of the Wife of the Governor, Enugu State, Mrs. Nkechinyere Mbah, in collaboration with Custos Care Foundation, hosted a pioneering Child Abuse Awareness and Prevention Workshop at the Post Primary School Management Board(PPSMB). This impactful event brought together a diverse coalition of traditional rulers, ministry representatives, community leaders, and stakeholders to tackle the pressing issue of child abuse in the state.
Mrs.
Mbah's initiative saw the convergence of esteemed traditional rulers, including
HRH Igwe C.I Ezeh, HRH Igwe F.K Ezeike, HRH Igwe Vincent Ekwedigwe, HRH Igwe
Emma Umunna, and HRH Igwe John Ibe, who lent their expertise and influence to
the cause. Representatives from various ministries, including the Ministry of
Health, Ministry of Children, Gender Affairs and Social Development, and the
Ministry of Education, among others, also participated.
Renowned
experts, Dr. Umoh Boniface Dennis and Mrs. Kobi Ikpo, delivered insightful
presentations that shed light on the root causes of child abuse, identification
strategies, and prevention methods.
Participants
then engaged in a dynamic group strategy session, brainstorming innovative
solutions and action steps to combat child abuse in their communities.
Following
the group strategy session, a comprehensive communique was issued, outlining
the collective commitment to creating a safer environment for children in Enugu
State. This declaration of intent sends a strong message: child abuse will no
longer be tolerated in the state. The communique highlights the need for a
collaborative effort to protect children and ensure they grow up in a safe,
nurturing environment.
Mrs.
Nkechinyere Mbah's leadership and the collective efforts of the participants,
in partnership with Custos Care Foundation, have ignited a movement to protect
Enugu's children. The Office of the Wife of the Governor has demonstrated its
commitment to creating a brighter future for generations to come. Let us
continue to push forward, hand in hand, to ensure the safety and well-being of
our children.
